What's the deal with refurbished?
This instrument was either an overstock or was deemed by the factory to have an imperfection. Check the description to see exactly why this instrument is considered refurbished. We scrutinize every instrument we sell and pass along all information from the refurbisher so that you know exactly what you are getting. The guitar is stamped “used” on the back of the headstock but the original serial number is present and not tampered with. These are like new with little or zero play wear!
The Grand Concert’s intimate body size and short-scale neck make for a comfortable playing experience that fingerstyle players are bound to love. The 12-fret version of the 812ce yields a slightly different character than the 14-fret because the bridge position is closer to the center of the lower bout and because the bracing profile was modified to emphasize a bolder attack. Players can expect plenty of the Grand Concert’s signature articulation with a slightly meatier, more robust tonal output. 2019’s edition features our V-Class bracing design, which bolsters this small-bodied guitar with added projection and sustain, bringing out more of Indian rosewood’s harmonic complexity. If you like a slightly darker, punchier quality in a small guitar, the 812ce 12-Fret is a great choice.
This particular instrument has a finish crack behind the bridge. This does not extend to the wood and is not a structural issue; we have checked with light and mirror inside the guitar to be sure, and there is no crack in the wood. We have included a close-up photo of the area so you can take a look, assisted by the direct application of the photography lighting to make the finish crack easily visible.
Aside from this, the instrument is in mint condition. We have been keeping this baby tucked away safely in its case the past couple years. There are no pick scratches, no marks on the body. No fretwear, and the neck is perfectly smooth. The truss rod, tuners and electronics all function 100%. This is a remarkably lively and resonant instrument, regardless of its small body size.
How Does It Play?
We have given this fine instrument a thorough pro setup to make sure it is playing its best and 100% ready for you. The neck is excellent and the action is low without buzz, measuring just 3/32” on the low E string at the 12th fret and just a hair above 2/32” on the high E.
The original Taylor hard case is included and in mint condition.
