This 2020 Shelton GalaxyFlite Super III is in MINT condition. Of course, it has some pretty notable *factory* relic. It’s possible there is a scratch or two in there that isn’t original, but it would be impossible to tell. There is no fretwear. All hardware, pots and switches operate flawlessly.
What Does Ivey Think?
This is the closest you'll get to surfing without access to the ocean. This aged Seafoam GalaxyFlite with Porter Vintage JM/Jag pickups dishes out some incredible sounds of the 60's with some added tweaks not available on just any JM style guitar.
The bridge tone on this guitar has that classic JM chime and sparkle you'd expect, but is slightly rounded off before the high end gets too spikey and unpleasant. There's no trade off of mojo here; it still retains some great twang and sounds magical with some fuzz.
What's really worth noting on this guitar is the addition of the Porter Jag pickup in the middle position. The "in between" sounds it achieves when combined with the Bridge and/or Neck are stellar. Bridge and middle have a nice cluck that are on par with any Strat, while combining Neck and Middle can give you some scooped SRV-inspired sounds.
Last but not least, the neck offers those iconic deep, clear piano-like clean tones that you'd expect out of any JM neck pickup. There's some exceptional note definition and sustain behind every note, never getting muddy. But if you'd like to tweak things even further, engaging the rhythm circuit while in any pickup combination offers both a treble and bass rolloff knob to sculpt either the low end or high end almost like a high and low pass filter.
How Does It Play?
This beauty sets up with string action measuring just 4/64” on the low E string at the 12th fret, and even lower on the high E. There is no fretbuzz. The neck is a familiar medium C, sure to please nearly every player.
