What's the deal with refurbished?

This instrument was either an overstock or was deemed by the factory to have an imperfection. Check the description to see exactly why this instrument is considered refurbished. We scrutinize every instrument we sell and pass along all information from the refurbisher so that you know exactly what you are getting. The guitar is stamped “used” on the back of the headstock but the original serial number is present and not tampered with. These are like new with little or zero play wear!

The Excel SS has re-asserted itself as a modern standout. A 15-inch-wide single-cutaway semi-hollow, the SS is lightweight, punchy, and versatile. Perfectly balanced Seymour Duncan 59 Humbuckers provide savory vintage tone—including coil-tapping push/pull tone knobs for single-coil sweetness—while a slim C-shape neck profile offers maximum comfort. Revered by players from Bob Weir to Kurt Rosenwinkel, the SS is no stranger to stages, and its full center block easily fends off unwanted feedback.

This particular instrument has some very fine scratches in the clearcoat of the finish on the back of the body, visible only if caught under the glare of the light just right. We were not able to catch these on camera and chances are you'll never see them unless you really try. We have tested all hardware and electronics and this guitar is ready to go! We are always fans of the Excel SS model, and this one is no exception.

How Does It Play?

We have given the guitar a thorough setup and it is quite a remarkable player. The string action measures barely a hair over 4/64" on the low E string at the 12th fret, and right at 4/64" on the high E. That is without any fretbuzz.

Please note that we do not have the factory case for this guitar. It will be carefully double-boxed and padded for shipping.
