Aside from being among the first Takamine models to feature the new Palathetic Pickup system, the circa 1969 PT-05E also gained attention for its creative combination of classical body shape and steel strings. This breakthrough model also triggered the initial widespread distribution of Takamine guitars in Japan.

The LTD2022 model brings a graceful cutaway to the silhouette and distinctive concept of Takamine’s ground-breaking PT-05E. Only 350 of this Limited Edition model are available worldwide and only 36 in the United States! The LTD2022 also features the “throwback” CTF-2N preamp, based on the 3-slider FET preamp that popularly graced Takamine guitars in decades past.

What Do We Think?

The LTD2022 delivers the vibrant top end we expect out of a good cut of Koa, along with a meaty midrange. The guitar is lively and balanced. The neck profile is a medium C, supportive but not chunky. Cosmetically, the back and sides are gorgeously figured while the top features a rich Burnt Sienna Tint finish. The gold hardware and abalone inlay seal the deal.

How Does It Play?

We give a thorough setup to every instrument that comes through our shop. From truss rod to nut slots, fretwork to saddle height, you can rest assured we have this one dialed in. We also do a thorough inspection and check of all electronics and hardware to make sure nothing slips by!

The lightweight semi-hard case is highly protective of the guitar and versatile enough to throw on your back for easy portability. The case’s rigid foam structure is more absorptive of drops and bumps than a traditional case, yet ultra-strong against punctures at the same time.
