What's the deal with refurbished?
This instrument is stamped "used" on the back of the headstock and given a new serial number by the manufacturer-authorized refurbisher. Why? It was deemed to have a cosmetic imperfection or to need a repair. Check the description to see exactly why this instrument is considered refurbished. We scrutinize every instrument and pass along all information from the refurbisher so that you know exactly what you are getting. These are like new with little or zero play wear!
Dry, stiff, and light, European Fir is tonally rich, deep and loud, exhibiting the crispness of a Spruce and the warmth of Redwood and Cedar. The Europoean Fir used on the Timeless Collection instruments is the best of the best, reclaimed wood that is 140+ years old and carefully selected from the beams, trusses and joists of old farms, pubs and bridges in the UK. The Timeless A43 features a Tobacco Sunburst and C-shaped neck. Each Timeless Collection instrument includes a hardshell case and a cut-steel nail encased in acrylic pulled from the reclaimed beams used to build a Timeless, authenticating its 140+ year old origin.
This particular instrument has some buff-through in the finish color on the edge of the f-hole and a similar spot where the finish color is buffed through on the rear of the body near the binding. Lastly, there is an imperfection in the clearcoat on the face of the headstock near the Washburn logo. This is perfectly smooth to the touch, though it may not appear so in the photo. We have included a close-up photo of each imperfection. Aside from what we have described, this instrument is in mint condition.
How Does It Play?
We have given this fine mandolin a thorough pro setup to make sure it is playing its best and 100% ready for you. The neck is excellent and the action is low without buzz, measuring just 1/16" across all strings at the 12th fret.
The Washburn Timeless Collection hard case pictured is included. It has some light bleed-through from a marker on one corner (see close-up photo).
