What's the deal with refurbished?

This instrument is stamped "used" on the back of the headstock and given a new serial number by the manufacturer-authorized refurbisher. Why? It was deemed to have a cosmetic imperfection or to need a repair. Check the description to see exactly why this instrument is considered refurbished. We scrutinize every instrument and pass along all information from the refurbisher so that you know exactly what you are getting. These are like new with little or zero play wear!

The AFA95CESHB is a truly special OM with a rare and inspired pairing of tonewoods. Its AA North Western Red Cedar top and figured Acacia body give this guitar a warm and open voicing with slightly darker trebles and clear bass. Aesthetically the guitar is stunning with a lighter shade of our standard Shadowburst carefully crafted to let the grain of the wood stay visible right to the edge, where it is bound by Flame Maple. This is an exceptional guitar with a character true to its sound. The AFA95CESHB is fitted with the fantastic LR Baggs StagePro EQ and Element Pickup.

This particular instrument had a crack in the finish near the bridge. This was a crack in the finish only, not in the wood. It has been professionally sealed smooth by an Alvarez-authorized refurbisher. It is quite difficult to see and you would be likely to miss it if it was not pointed out to you. But we have included a close-up photo so you can see exactly what you are looking for. Aside from what we have described, this instrument is in mint condition.

How Does It Play?

We have given this fine instrument a thorough pro setup to make sure it is playing its best and 100% ready for you. The neck is excellent and the action is low without buzz, measuring just 6/64” on the low E string at the 12^th fret and 5/64” on the high E.
