What's the deal with refurbished?

 This instrument is stamped "used" on the back of the headstock and given a new serial number by the manufacturer-authorized refurbisher. Why? It was deemed to have a cosmetic imperfection or to need a repair. Check the description to see exactly why this instrument is considered refurbished. We scrutinize every instrument and pass along all information from the refurbisher so that you know exactly what you are getting. These are like new with little or zero play wear!

The secret to the Streamliner’s sound is twofold—the Broad’Tron humbucking pickup and the spruce center block. Specifically designed by the expert engineers at Gretsch for the Streamliner, the high-output Broad’Tron pickup spawns robust lows, pristine highs and a throaty midrange for a unique tone that blends well with other instruments in a band context. A lightweight spruce center block runs the length of the body, reinforcing the top while eliminating undesired feedback for volume-friendly performance on modern stages. 

This particular instrument has had the Bigsby replaced by a Gretsch-authorized refurbisher. There are a couple of light scratches on the Bigsby as is quite common. The only other imperfection on the guitar is a tiny finish flaw under the clearcoat near the edge of the body.

How Does It Play?

This is a very versatile guitar that makes a great smaller-bodied alternative to the semi-hollow vibe of an ES-335, but with a Bigsby and a little more of that Gretsch sound. We have given it a thorough setup and the string action measures barely a hair over 4/64" on the low E string at the 12th fret, and right at 4/64" on the high E. Nice and low without buzz!
