We have a bit of a rarity here! A one of one build for Josh Smith for use on his first run with Bonamassa in late 2021.

A little rig rundown from Joe Morgan, describing both this amp and the AC40 that sits beside it in the last of the photos: “Josh needed a small but loud version of his main rig. So here are 2 customs - 1st an AC40 with no scaling, speaker is a Red Fang alnico. 2nd is the GOAT jr. 40w single channel super reverb style with my take on that Classic reverb it’s even sporting a dwell control. This rig is small but LOUD.” 

We recently took this amp to Joe Morgan here in Nashville to ensure it had a clean bill of health. Everything is operating in tip-top shape. The amp is loaded with the original Eminence JS-1250 Josh Smith Signature speaker, rated at 50W. Broken in by the man himself. Cosmetically the amp has a couple of small signs of road wear, which we have pointed out in close-up photos. But nothing major. It will ship with IEC power cable (not pictured).

Our photographer held onto this for a couple months in hopes that he’d be able to pull the cash together to snag it, but things didn’t pan out that way. It’s a really wonderful sounding amp. It has a unique EQ section that separates out the 3 bands more than any other amp I’ve played. In fact, you can completely cut each from the circuit if you’d like. Turn down all three to zero, and you have zero signal flow.

You can see Josh’s EQ settings from his Bonamassa tour still indicated on the gaff tape. The amp is at edge of breakup with single coils at these settings, and quite loud! If you want to stray from there, it is incredibly straight-forward to dial in. The Reverb sounds phenomenal as well, with a dwell knob that gives you control over the body of the ‘verb in additional to the standard level controlled by the Reverb knob.
