Just in! This 2019 Whitfill S-Style landed in the shop via trade in. It’s the first time we’ve had our hands on a Whitfill guitar and boy, what an instrument! Charles Whitfill knows how to make a vintage inspired guitar. The look, feel, sound, and mojo are present in spades. It’s also a super light instrument, coming it at under 7 lbs. If you are looking for that one vintage S-Style guitar, I’m willing to bet this Whitfill will fit the bill!
Features include an ash body, maple neck and board, 9.5” radius, and a 1.625” nut width. Pickups are a trio of hand-wound Onamac Windery singles. They remind me of 50’s style single coils with a beautiful low output and rounded off treble. Even the bridge pickup sounds great! It’s not too bright but still articulate and with the right amount of juice. Controls include a 5-way blade switch, master volume, middle/ neck pickup tone control, and a separate tone control for the bridge pickup.
Original Case is Included!
How Does It Play?
The frets are in great shape. The truss rod functions properly and the guitar sets up nicely. The string action measures just over 4/64” on the low E string at the 12th fret and right at 4/64” on the high E.
