Paul Reed Smith is a name that needs no introduction. PRS has been making guitars of the highest quality for the better part of 40 years. This 2022 McCarty came in as a trade in. I took it for a spin while the shop was empty, and boy, I am quite tempted to buy it myself!
It features a mahogany body, maple top, ‘Pattern’ neck profile, PRS wraparound bridge, push-pull coil tap on the tone knob, a charcoal stain finish, and 58/15 LT pickups. The ‘Pattern’ neck profile reminds me a lot of the old PRS ‘Wide Fat’ Profile. The 58/15 LT, or ‘low turn’, pickups are like a great set of old Pafs. Also comes with the original case and all the case candy. Take this one home before I do!
How Does It Play?
The frets are in excellent condition. The truss rod functions properly and the guitar sets up nicely. The string action measures right at 4/64” on the low E string at the 12th fret and just over 3/64” on the high E. This thing plays great!
