In via trade! This is a cool one, and perhaps the rarest Ibanez we’ve ever had in the shop. This is a one-off, Ibanez LACS Customized RG1527Z for Cameron Maynard of the band The Contortionist. It started off life as a RG1527Z and was refinished in cream by the Ibanez Los Angles Custom Shop. It was given a pickguard, the pickups were swapped to Duncan JB and ’59 7 string pickups, and the headstock was finished in natural. All of this work was performed by the official Ibanez LACS for Ibanez Artist Cameron Maynard. The Los Angeles Custom Shop only does work for artists on the Ibanez roster, so this is not something that is offered or available to the general public.
From the Ibanez Fandom wiki: The RG1527Z is a seven string RG series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 2010. It was made in Japan by FujiGen as part of the upscale Prestige line and replaced the RG1527. In the USA, this model was often still referred to as the RG1527; the Z suffix is ignored for some models in promotional material.
The main differentiator between the RG1527Z and its predecessor is the new Edge Zero 7 double locking tremolo bridge with removable ZPS3 tuning stabilizer. Other features include a basswood body bolted to a maple and wenge neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dot position markers. The RG1527Z was discontinued after 2014.
How Does It Play?
The truss rod functions properly and the guitar sets up nicely. The string action sits at 5/64” on the low B string, and right at 4/64” on the high E string, measured at 12th fret.
