In via trade! This 2013 Fender Custom Shop ’56 Relic Strat is another home run from the Custom Shop. It’s finished in a heavy relic Desert Sand nitro finish with all the mojo you could ask for. Features include an alder body, 10/56 “V” neck shape, a 9.5” radius, Fat ‘50s pickups, and 6105 frets.
All of the Fender Custom Shop offerings that have made it through the shop have been great, but this one stands out to me. In fact, I had to convince myself not to take it home. The neck shape is full and quite comfortable with a soft V contour. Pickups are Fat ‘50s which are warm and yes, fat! If you are looking for a Custom Shop Strat at a killer price, this is certainly one to consider!
How Does It Play?
The truss rod functions properly and the guitar sets up nicely. The string action sits at 5/64” on the low E string, and a little under 5/64” on the high E string, measured at the 12th fret.
