We recently took in this stunning 2023 Fender Custom Shop ’55 Journeyman Relic Tele on trade. Man, it is sweet! As soon as it hit the floor, people noticed. We had several customers use it to demo amps today. They loved it! The relic job is very nice on this one. The pickups are great as well, Tele tones at their best.
It features an ash body, maple neck, V neck shape, 9.5” radius, Dunlop 6105 frets, Fender ‘Relic’ level of aging, and hand-wound '55/'56 pickups. The neck is extremely comfortable. It’s pretty fat at .915” at the first fret and .975” at the 12th fret, but the V contour really helps it fit in your hand. Also comes with the original case, spec sheet, and all the case candy. This is one killer Tele!
How Does It Play?
The frets are in excellent condition. The truss rod functions properly and the guitar sets up nicely. The string action measures right at 4/64” on the low E string at the 12th fret and just under 4/64” on the high E. This thing is amazing!
