Few guitarists around the world have the respect of Javier Reyes, part of the acclaimed instrumental progressive metal trio Animals as Leaders as well as other musical endeavors Mestis and TRAM. Javier is well known for his innovative, emotive playing style, and he turns to extended range guitars to accomplish his uniquely innovative compositions and performances.

His LTD JRV-8 is a guitar unlike any other. At first glance it has elements of design that make it seem like a traditional guitar shape, but once you take a closer look, you realize the enormity of its power. The JRV-8 is an 8-string guitar with a 27” baritone scale. Typical tuning on a guitar like this is F#-B-E-A-D-G-B-E, but the JRV-8 is meant to inspire creativity and can flexibly handle alternative tunings as needed.

The JRV-8’s sound is powered by a H/S/S pickup configuration featuring a Fishman Fluence Signature Javier Reyes Classic Open Core bridge pickup, delivering three voices that are selectable with a mini-toggle switch. Voice 1 has a thick low end, low midrange growl plus aggressive upper mids; Voice 2 is a searing lead tone with organic treble and harmonics; Voice 3 offers clear, open single coil tone. The middle and neck pickups are Fishman Fluence Signature Javier Reyes Single Width, a pickup that offers everything from vintage sweetness to muscular overwound punch.

How Does It Play?

We give a thorough setup to every instrument that comes through our shop. From truss rod to Floyd Rose, pickup heights to intonation, you can rest assured we have this one dialed in. We also do a thorough inspection and check of all electronics and hardware to make sure nothing slips by!
