What Does Cam Think?
Those who know me, know I am a huge fan of the M-II body shape. While I love the look of the Horizon, it’s tough to argue with the sleek ergonomics of the Mirage shape. Specs are just what you’d want in a high-class shredder: mahogany body, maple neck, ebony board, extra thin U neck shape, jumbo stainless-steel frets, 43mm nut, and a Floyd Rose Original tremolo.
Pickups are the Fishman Fluence Modern 3-Voice, which is a super versatile active set. Voice one is an active aggressive humbucker sound, voice two a more passive humbucker sound, leaving voice three as a glassy single coil tone. This may be one of the most versatile shredders we’ve come across!
How Does It Play?
The string action sits just under 4/64” across all strings, measured at the 12th fret. The Extra Thin U neck is a slim C shape to my hands. It’s slightly thinner than what you might find on a modern Fender. It’s fast and sleek but has plenty of material to remain comfortable if you don’t like thin necks. The satin finish feels great underneath your hand, and the stainless steel XJ Jescar frets make shredding effortless. The 12” radius is the perfect middle ground for low action and comfortable chording.
