What Does Cam Think?

Fresh from our friends at ESP! This USA V-II NTB is a beautiful example of the craftsmanship available from the small but mighty ESP USA shop in California. The V-II is a fairly uncommon model in general, so we jumped at the chance to add this beast to our inventory. Features include a mahogany top with mahogany wings, an ebony fretboard, neck-thru body construction, and a Floyd Rose Original tremolo.

The bridge pickup is a Seymour Duncan Custom 14. This is a custom pickup available only on ESP’s. The low end is tight with an articulate high end. It’s a great pickup if you are coming from the active world but want something new. Sounds great with heavy distortion or even light overdrive. The Alnico II Pro in the neck needs no introduction. It’s warm and full, but with a clear high end. It’s the perfect neck pickup for rock and metal, staying clear even with gobs of gain.  

How Does It Play?

We give a thorough setup to every instrument that comes through our shop. From truss rods to nut slots, pickup heights to Floyd Rose trems, you can rest assured we have this one dialed in. The string action measures just 4/64” across all strings, measured at the 12^th fret. The Extra Thin U neck is a breeze to play. It’s perfectly shredable, but with enough girth to keep your hand free of fatigue.
