What Do We Think?

This custom JM4 features a Seafoam Green finish in heavy distress over 3-Tone Sunburst. Maple fretboard complete with binding and pearloid block inlays. It is a complete show stopper! It features a full 34” scale length and plays oh-so-easy from first fret to last. The tones coming from the FanoBird pickups are thick and delicious through the lows and mids but always balanced with clarity and precision. Playing up the neck? Still warm and tight. The tone knob dials in the punch and “bite” and is musical throughout its entire sweep. These pickups sounds killer through a PA and in-ears alike.

How Does It Play?

The C neck on the JM4 has the feel of an early jazz bass neck with a little extra meat in the shoulders to support the hand without fatigue. The fretwork on this instrument is superb. The string action sets up at a very low 5/64” on the low E string at the 12^th fret and nearly down to 4/64” on the high E. All without fretbuzz! The worn finish on the back feels smooth and comfortable right from the get go.
