What Do We Think?

This Fano JM6 will certainly turn some heads! With a captivating Candy Green Sparkle nitro finish, a set of TV Jones Powertron pickups and a Bigsby, what’s not to love? If you’re looking for an offset that will have the audience looking your way, this is the ticket!

The TV Jones PowerTron pickups have plenty of body in the low end, with a feel reminiscent of their PAF cousins. But there is a bit more definition through the midrange that lets you really play with the tonal colors the guitar has to offer. The neck position is warm but transparent. The pick attack is audible on the note in a pleasingly distinct way, and the pickup offers more room nuance than a typical neck humbucker.

The bridge position has the bite to nail classic rock rhythm riffs, but also has the meat to sing on single note lead lines. It can nudge a tube amp just right, but doesn’t sound the least bit nasal. The middle position has loads of sparkle and is well-suited to clean arpeggiated work, whether executing with blazing speed or feeding a dripped wet spaceship of effects.

How Does It Play?

The neck is a nice medium C, perhaps even feeling a bit rounder than most JM6 because it has the finish left on the back to fill it out. The string action measures only a hair over 4/64” on the low E string at the 12^th fret, and right at 4/64” on the high E. There is no fretbuzz, and the fret ends are nicely beveled to allow the hand to slide smoothly up and down the neck.
