The Alt de Facto series is Fano’s top-of-the-line custom series. These are handbuilt in the USA by one luthier from start to finish so that every instrument tells a unique and cohesive story. What Do We Think?

This guitar packs a punch! The mahogany body is vibrant and resonant. It really allows you to hear the difference in the two Lollar P-90 voicings… standard wind in the neck and high wind in the bridge.

Starting with the bridge, you get a wonderful barrage of musical muscle. The output will push even your clean amp into overdrive. It has a raw but meaty bite, and rich overtones that taper off before you reach the harsher frequencies.

The neck position is chewy but has wonderful clarity through the upper midrange. It gives you a bit of that smokey, bluesy vibe. But it doesn’t need to be pigeon-holed to one use. It can rip some big chords or some fat, melodic solos. The volume between neck and bridge is perfectly matched.

The middle position is astoundingly immediate and very plucky in its attack, even while remaining full-bodied and balanced. It sounds akin to the middle position of a Tele, but bigger.

How Does It Play?

The string actions hovers right around a very nice and low 4/64” at the 12^th fret without any buzz. The early 60’s-inspired C profile is temperately slim, but with a nice amount of shoulder to support the hand and thwart fatigue. Transitioning to the upper frets is a breeze thanks to the contoured neck heel, and the back of the neck is sanded to feel smooth and broken in the first time you touch it.
