Information

New Demo with Full Warranty. We are an authorized Fano dealer!

Like what you see? Photos and video are of the exact instrument you will receive.

Each Fano Oltre series guitar is handbuilt in the USA using an old-growth North American Alder body, maple neck and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The result is a resonant, lively instrument crafted with care and precision. This series allows for a number of customizations, from color to pickguard, knobs to pickups. Models can be built with either a maple or rosewood fretboard to meet the needs of a variety of players. If this isn’t the exact Fano you are looking for, contact us to spec one out precisely to your liking!

This guitar suffered a blunder at the hands of a shipping company that shall not be named, the effect of which was to pop open a wood grain on the side of the neck between the nut and first fret on the bass side only. With the approval of Fano, we have sealed this with amber-tinted CA glue to match the original finish. The bond of the glue is stronger than the original wood and finish to ensure the grain will never open up again. You may be able to see a hair’s width shadow line if you look closely, but it is completely smooth to the touch. Because of this, we are classifying the guitar as a demo unit and offering it at a discount. The guitar has not been previously owned, nor has it been played outside of our hands. It comes with the full Fano limited lifetime warranty.

What Do We Think?

You know to expect rock ‘n’ roll when you look at this guitar. And it does that in spades. Without the extra magnetic field and string pull of a neck pickup, the string vibrations over the bridge pickup are distinctively more intense. The guitar delivers a liveliness and level of dynamics that most bridge pickup positions are going to struggle to provide. The Lollar Imperial humbucker dishes out the rich, creamy midrange that makes tube amps deliciously weak in the knees. The volume on the guitar works wonders with the amp set for some nice grinding overdrive, allowing you to control the sound of your whole rig with just a single knob.

And what lies under the hood is equally-inspiring… the mini-toggle switch lets you switch the coils of the Lollar Imperial between series and parallel. Parallel drops the output ever-so-slightly to relieve the front end of your amp, opens up the midrange and tightens the low end. Put some light compression in your signal chain and you immediately have blackguard Tele tones in not-so-subtle disguise. While incredibly straightforward, the versatility of this guitar is equally notable.

How Does It Play?

This guitar plays fast and low without fretbuzz, with the string action nearly down to 4/64” on the low E at the 12th fret and nearly down to 3/64” on the high E. These guitars come in playing great right from Fano with the frets dressed and polished beautifully. The necks feel amazing. The contoured neck heel makes those upper-fret transitions smooth and effortless. The early 60’s-inspired C profile is temperately slim, but with a nice amount of shoulder to support the hand and thwart fatigue. The worn neck finish delivers an immediately broken-in feel and is tongue-oiled smooth and fast.
