Each Fano Oltre series guitar is handbuilt in the USA using an old-growth North American Alder body, maple neck and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The result is a resonant, lively instrument crafted with care and precision. This series allows for a number of customizations, from color to pickguard, knobs to pickups. Models can be built with either a maple or rosewood fretboard to meet the needs of a variety of players. What Do We Think?

Fano’s P-90 pickup set makes a delightfully rich contribution to this alder body JM6. It starts with a warm and smoky neck pickup that will push an amp to break up when you really dig in. The high end is nicely compressed high and sits right where it needs too; big chords sound 3-dimensional and single notes sing with just the right amount of sizzle up top.

The bridge position has a present upper midrange that cuts very nicely. It also has a slight scoop around 500hz that naturally cleans up the congestion frequently found in a thick sounding bridge pickup. This one pairs great with both American- and British-inspired overdriven tones. Chunky rhythm parts are met with the appropriate clarity and attack, and searing lead lines have plenty of body underneath to ensure thick sustain.

How Does It Play?

The string action measures only a hair over 4/64” on the low E at the 12^th fret and right at 4/64” on the high E. There is no fretbuzz. The frets are beautifully dressed and polished. The early 60’s-inspired C profile is fast, but features a nice amount of shoulder to support the hand and thwart fatigue.
