Each Fano Oltre series guitar is handbuilt in the USA using an old-growth North American Alder body, maple neck and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The result is a resonant, lively instrument crafted with care and precision. This series allows for a number of customizations, from color to pickguard, knobs to pickups. Models can be built with either a maple or rosewood fretboard to meet the needs of a variety of players. What Do We Think?

This MG6 sports a Lollar ‘50s Wind P-90 in the neck for tones that are big and warm, but a little more clear and crisp than your standard P-90 wind. The balance and clarity is absolutely beautiful. It gets spankier than your average P-90, but fatter and bolder than your standard single coils.

The neck position pairs perfectly with the standard wind Lollar P90 in the bridge. The bridge doesn’t lose any volume compared to the neck, and is very dynamic. Through a clean amp the top stays bouncy while the midrange is bold but transparent. Under gain, it dishes out your typical P-90 snarl with a mildly midrange-forward bark.

If you want a tight, snappy attack, the middle position is the place to be. Still big and refined, this position has an immediacy that lends itself to funky rhythm parts as well as pristine finger picking passages.

How Does It Play?

The neck profile is a moderate “early 60’s” C that leaves enough on the shoulder to support the hand and prevent fatigue. Fano does an impeccable job dressing and polishing their frets and this one is no exception. The string action hovers right around 4/64” at the 12^th fret without any fret buzz.
