Each Fano Oltre series guitar is handbuilt in the USA using an old-growth North American Alder body, maple neck and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The result is a resonant, lively instrument crafted with care and precision. This series allows for a number of customizations, from color to pickguard, knobs to pickups. Models can be built with either a maple or rosewood fretboard to meet the needs of a variety of players. What Does Parker Think?
This Fano MG6 is a cool spin on a classic Mustang shape. It has a full 25.5” scale length, a pair of Fano’s own P90s and a Gotoh 510 vintage style trem. Finished in a classic 3-Tone Sunburst and with just a touch of aging this MG6 looks ready to take on anything you can throw at it. And sure enough, the pair of P90’s and traditional Strat trim make for a very versatile guitar that will sound great in pretty much any setting.
The Fano P90 in the neck has a lovely smoky character which is right at home in a blues dive bar. It punches and will cut through the mix in just the right way, and never sounds muddy while still having the warmth I look for when I switch to the neck position.
The Fano P90 in the bridge is great as well, with the right amount of bark for leads but with plenty of sparkle when playing clean as well. Combined with the Gotoh trem for a bit of added top end, it really plays great in every situation I put it in!
I really liked it into the Bad Cat Hardwired Cub V, as the natural chime of the guitar complimented the amp nicely. What is particularly cool is that with some extra gain it can go all the way into 80’s rock territory no problem, and with the Strat trem for dive bombs you’re off to the races!
How Does It Play?
The Fano ‘60s C is super comfortable and fits great in the hand. It is a solid middle ground that is not too thin but not too chunky. The 9.5-12” radius also helps to get the guitar playing smoothly all over the neck, with no fretbuzz even on your biggest bends.
