What Does Parker Think?
This Fano PX6 Alt De Facto is awesome and super unique. The Black over Surf Green is super slick and gives this guitar such a vibe. With a mahogany body and ebony fretboard, this guitar is built to rock and do so in style.
Lollar is known to make great pickups and this Mini-Humbucker is no exception. It is so clear and articulate in the neck position that if you closed your eyes you might think it’s a fat single coil! With equal parts clarity and warmth this neck position has some real magic to it. It cuts through very nicely with just the right amount of mids, while still retaining a slightly scooped character that translates your pick attack beautifully.
The Lollar Imperial is a favorite of many boutique builders for a reason, and is perfect in the bridge position of this guitar. While some bridge pickups can be harsh or brittle, I never felt this way playing this guitar even with a brighter amp or when picking closer to the bridge. It sparkles and chimes without ever making you feel the need to reach for your tone knob. The mid character on this guitar is also phenomenal. It has just the right grunt to rock hard with some gain, and unlocks some brilliant vocal qualities if you’re feeling bluesy and roll down the tone knob.
How Does It Play?
This PX6 plays great with low action without any buzz. The string actions measures just over 4/64” at the 12th fret on the low E string, and just over 3/64” on the high E. The C neck is very comfortable and with the finish sanded off the back, will never stick to your hands or get in your way. There is also a nice heel contour to accommodate access to the upper frets.
