What Do We Think?

One look at the weight and one strum of this guitar will probably tell you all you need to know. At 7lb 3oz it’s a good dry piece of Korina. And it has the tones to back it up. It has a warm, woody bottom end and crisp, responsive upper register. Not to be confused with bright. The guitar is incredibly balanced and ready to track with every nuance of your picking hand.

The bridge pickup will bark all day long. Depending on your amp settings and position on the guitar’s tone control, it can sound like everything from a fat telecaster to a ripping Les Paul. The neck position is more lush, giving you glorious cleans and bluesy dirt tones alike. The Lollar Firebird by nature is a transparent pickup, and this makes it a fantastic neck position pickup if you find a normal humbucker to be too muddy there.

How Does It Play?

The string action on this beauty sets up incredibly low! It measures just 4/64” on the low E string at the 12^th fret, and 3/64” on the high E string. There is no fretbuzz anywhere on the neck. The guitar sports a 24.75” scale length and a classic late 50’s round C profile. The back of the neck is sanded down for an instantly worn in feel, one that will prevent it from every feeling sticky as the night goes on.
