Each Fano Oltre series guitar is handbuilt in the USA using an old-growth North American Alder body, maple neck and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The result is a resonant, lively instrument crafted with care and precision. This series allows for a number of customizations, from color to pickguard, knobs to pickups. Models can be built with either a maple or rosewood fretboard to meet the needs of a variety of players. What Does Josh Think?

This is an incredibly well-balanced guitar. Throw it straight in front of just about any type of amp and you’ll benefit from the big bottom of the Fano P-90s, the fat punch of the midrange and the signature P-90 sizzle on the top end.

The neck position is warm and meaty, but with more string definition than you’ll get from a humbucker. In fact, through a Vox-ish amp you you’ll find it serves up tones very much like a single-coil but with more punch and output. Through an American-voiced amp you’ll lean more into the smooth, fat voicing of the lower midrange.

The bridge pickup is a real powerhouse with an organic, raw edge to it. It has bite and a tight bottom end than never falters under huge power chords and even heavy riffing. But it sounds just as good through a lightly overdriven amp, crisp and authoritative.

The middle position is incredibly immediate and spanky. It sounds Strat-like without the quack. It gives your big chords a magnificent shimmer and your funky rhythms plenty of snap.

How Does It Play?

The PX6 neck profile is round and full. Not a baseball bat, but meaty and supportive. The fretwork is impeccable. The string action measures barely a hair over 4/64” on the low E string at the 12^th fret and a hair below 4/64” on the high E, nice and low without a buzz.
