The Alt de Facto series is Fano’s top-of-the-line custom series. These are handbuilt in the USA by one luthier from start to finish so that every instrument tells a unique and cohesive story. Nitrocellulose lacquer finish on both the body and neck of course. If this isn’t exactly the guitar you are looking for, let us know what you want and we’ll get you the best price on your custom build.
What Does Josh Think?
We had one with similar specs a year ago and as soon as it sold, we knew we needed to get in another one like it. A thinline RB6 with a Lollar Gold Foil in the neck, Tele ’52 in the bridge, a roasted maple neck, and an anodized gold pickguard to tie it all together. This guitar is a beauty. The tones from the Gold Foil are thick and meaty with an effervescent sparkle on top. The full Tele-style bridge gives the Lollar ’52 all the bite and grunt of a good telecaster, but with some added “air” from the thinline body.
And let’s backtrack a little… the solid top on this guitar gives it a really powerful acoustic character even before plugging in. Through an amp, that translates into a wider-than-usual soundscape with an exceptionally rich low end and an extended upper frequency response. This makes the tone and bass cut knobs incredibly usable. Want to “focus” the tone a little? Roll them both back a bit. Each knob is very effective on its own as well, whether you find yourself wanting to “clean up” the low end or dial back the trebles. This guitar has no problem fitting into a variety of genres, but stands out and does its own thing just as well!
How Does It Play?
Honestly, they don’t come playing any better than this one. The neck sets up perfectly with string action measuring just 4/64” on the low E string and even under that on the high E, without any fret buzz. The frets are level, beautifully dressed and polished. The late ‘50s neck profile fills out the hand nicely and without any discomfort.
