In via trade! This 2020 Fender '63 Telecaster Heavy Relic is another killer piece from the Custom Shop. This thing looks and sounds like a vintage Tele, but with modern attention to detail and playability. Features include an alder body, ’60s style Oval ‘C’ neck shape, a 9.5” radius, Custom Shop ‘63 Telecaster Single Coil pickups, and 6105 frets.
We’ve been lucky to have quite a few Fender CS guitars come through the shop. They have all been great instruments and very consistent overall. The ‘60s Oval C neck shape is a little fatter than a typical ‘60s neck, but still fast enough for all your Tele licks. The 6105 fret is the perfect fret for accurate intonation and ease of playability.
How Does It Play?
The truss rod functions properly and the guitar sets up nicely. The string action sits at just over 4/64” on the low E string, and right at 4/64” on the high E string, measured at the 12th fret.
