Each Fano Oltre series guitar is handbuilt in the USA using an old-growth North American Alder body, maple neck and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The result is a resonant, lively instrument crafted with care and precision. This series allows for a number of customizations, from color to pickguard, knobs to pickups. Models can be built with either a maple or rosewood fretboard to meet the needs of a variety of players. What Do We Think?

This guitar is vintage Blackguard Tele looks with a twist, and vintage tone with an extra punch. The Fano P-90s are rich and thick in the midrange, balanced by a nice top-end cut coming off the maple fretboard. This is the perfect T-Style for someone who wants the capability of a bigger, thicker, meaner tones than a traditional Tele can offer. The offset/contour heel joint opens up the higher frets all the way up through the cutaway. We are also head over heels for the distressing on this one. It looks and feels the part. Graham at Fano just knocked this one out of the park.

How Does It Play?

This guitar sets up particularly low without any fretbuzz! The string action at the 12th fret measures just 4/64” on the low E string and 3/64” on the high E. We don’t attempt to go that low often, but this guitar sits there very naturally. The worn finish on the back of the neck is completely natural at first touch. It is hard to put down.
