The Kauer Banshee features indelibly classic looks, comfortable contours and formidable tone. The mahogany body is slim but exceptionally resonant, assertive but stunningly agile. This is an instrument with the muscle to stand out in a mix and the poise to play nice with the rest of the band. What Do We Think?

This is the second Kauer Banshee we have had with this pickup combination, and this one is every bit as incredible as the first. Without being “bright”, this guitar is crisp and lively. The Lollar Staple P-90 in the neck is hollowed out a touch in the midrange for a tone that is warm and woody in the mahogany body. The Alnico bar magnet pole pieces endow it with nice string clarity on top that doesn’t get lost in the warmth. The Wolfetone Meaner P-90 in the bridge position will hit home among humbucker-leaning players with its meaty midrange and a high end that is tamed but still cuts. It is EQ’d to perfection. The two pickups pair seamlessly in the middle position, with each pickup’s unique approach to the midrange leaving ample room for the other. This position has loads of shimmer in the highs and mids and a tight, even spanky low end.

How Does It Play?

The frets are PLEK’d to perfection, polished and dressed smoothly from every angle. The C profile neck is unabashedly familiar at first touch, leaning a touch on the chunky side to really get your mojo working. As we’ve come to expect with the Banshees, the mahogany body is resonant and lively before you even plug in, with a punch you can feel right in your chest.
