Information

Brand New with Warranty. We are an authorized Elliott dealer.

Moonshine and music have long been staples of the hills of North Carolina. The state was the birthplace of banjo great Earl Scruggs and the stomping grounds of flat top picker Doc Watson. But more recently, the electrified sounds of Elliott guitars and amplifiers have been heard rolling in the valleys and roaring on stages across the nation. From an unassuming shop in Hiddenite, NC, this 190-proof team is crafting some of the most intoxicating small-batch guitar flavors in the industry.

What Does Josh Think?

If ever there was an amp that could be described as three-dimensional, this would be the one! I’m a sucker for running a reverb pedal into an amp to add some depth, but this combo really inspires me to just plug straight in or bypass the reverb on our shop pedalboard. Loaded with a Celestion Alnico Gold 50W speaker, this amp is the antithesis of midrangey and honky. Don’t get me wrong, the midrange is lush! But if you are looking for an amp that covers more breadth, this is one you need to check out. While it weighs in just under 35lb, the full low end and expressive, ever-so-slightly compressed high end paint an immense sonic landscape with tons of room for different guitars and effects to shine.

The amp’s magic extends to its flexibility—the two channels can be jumpered in the fashion of a Tweed Deluxe 5E3, and the single tone knob is powerful without falling prey to the tone suck of 2- and 3-band amp EQ’s. In fact, just plug into the channel with the voicing you want to emphasize (normal or bright) and then jumper to the other channel and mix the volumes to taste. This gives you loads of control over where your guitar sits in the mix before you even touch the tone knob.

If you want a good bit of grit, don’t be afraid to turn that tone knob up in the 9-10 range (out of 12). This type of tone stack does not cut out the low end as you turn it up; it merely allows more of the high end to pass unhindered. In other words, you’ll get more gain and sizzle the higher you go. With the tone in the 9-12 range, pushing the bright channel will give you killer Top Boost “Class A” sounds. Or you can run the normal channel a little hotter and hear the amp really breath on the low end, balanced with a crisp—but never harsh—top end.

And here’s another bit of the magic: the low end on this amp stays tight. Sure, you can make the amp sag a bit and push it into nice saturation. But you’re going to have a really hard time turning the bottom end into mush, even with humbuckers. With beefy US-made power and output transformers and the 50W Alnico Gold speaker, you’re going to be able to cash in on the nuances of the preamp section without having the amp fart out on you in the process. Turn those volumes up and enjoy pushing the preamp tubes to their limits, but expect to find the low end to stay big and bold even as you work the guitar’s volume knob to affect the drive and color of the amp.
