Information

Brand New with Warranty. We are an authorized Elliott dealer.

Like what you see? All photos (and video) are of the exact instrument you will receive.

Moonshine isn’t the only thing to come from the hills of North Carolina. The state has been the birthplace of banjo great Earl Scruggs and the stomping grounds of flat top picker Doc Watson. But more recently, the electrified sounds of Elliott guitars and amplifiers have been heard rolling in the valleys and roaring on stages across the nation. From an unassuming shop in Hiddenite, NC, this 190-proof team is crafting some of the most intoxicating small-batch guitar flavors in the industry.

One imperfection...

Let's get this out of the way! This guitar is a demo model with a slight lacquer check behind the control plate. Andy Elliott knocked $500 off the dealer price for us and we are offering the same discount straight to you. The Sugar Pine model typically prices out the same as the ET Custom, but this will get you closer to the ET Standard in price. The guitar carries the full Elliott warranty. The imperfection is barely visible but we have included a close-up photo so you can take a look. If you're like us, you'll play for hours without even seeing it. Other than that, we've got nothing but good news to deliver...

Body

Sugar Pine! This stuff is hard to get. In fact, Elliott had to stop building these for a while because they were having trouble finding true guitar-grade sugar pine. But it’s back. The hallmarks of a telecaster built of properly-graded sugar pine are its light weight, tremendous resonance and warm midrange. We feel this guitar absolutely hits the mark on all three of those counts. Coming in at 6lb 13oz it is super light for a telecaster. The body resonates in your lap before you even plug it in.

Neck

The Maple neck is a mid-‘60s fast C profile. Andy Elliott favors flatsawn over quartersawn for its broader frequency response and reinforces the neck with two graphite rods to make sure it doesn’t move no matter how hard your rock or how far you travel. It is finished in a smooth satin nitro (gloss on headstock) and dressed up on the side with Elliott’s unique red-toned dot inlays, easily visibility under stage lights or lack thereof. It is topped with an Indian Rosewood fingerboard that is planed under tension for a perfectly straight end result. The frets are epoxied to transfer maximum resonance and avoid the minute backbow that a traditional fretting technique applies to the neck as frets tangs are “wedged” into the fingerboard. Hence, you get a perfectly-operating truss rod that doesn’t play any games down the length of the neck.

Bridge

This vintage T-style bridge is a tone beast! The compensated brass saddles intonate wonderfully and lend the guitar a warm, rich midrange. No lack of clarity or definition though! Just bell-like attack and beautiful sustain thanks to the .060” thick steel and large surface-to-surface contact area of the bridge to the guitar.

Pickups

Josh speaking here… I have fallen in love with the house-wound Elliott pickups. It has been super informative chatting with Andy and with Adam, who winds the pickups. They design and voice them with a huge dynamic range that performs across the full sweep of the volume and tone controls. These are loud but not overwound and are built from start to finish uniquely for their respective pickup positions. The Telewacker goldfoil in the neck is big and chimey. The bridge is poised to saturate the midrange of your amp beautifully when you dig in and seduce your ear with a charismatic sparkle on top when you lay back. Even through in-ears, you’ll find single-note lines just as appealing as big open-voiced chords because there are no holes or weak spots in the tonal spectrum. Every spot on the neck simultaneously delivers a rich, thick bedrock and a stunning clarity in the overtones.

How Does It Play?

We are finding that when these come in we usually don’t even touch a thing. And that’s saying something. They are dialed in thoroughly by Andy Elliott and seem to be bulletproof to the normal affects of shipping and variations in climate. Of course, we check thoroughly and ensure everything is in tip-top shape from frets to electronics. The neck feels superb and the body contours are thoroughly comfortable. Give it a try! We don’t think you’ll look back but we have a return policy for you just in case!

The SKB hardshell case is included and will protect your guitar faithfully. The rubber cushion grip handle is super comfy and the latches are TSA-approved.
