What Do We Think?

At just 7lb 9.6oz, this pine-bodied GalaxyFlite is an extremely lightweight specimen of an offset-body guitar loaded with a Mastery tremolo. And when it comes to the resonance of the instrument, it shows. Paired with a tempered maple neck, the pine body delivers a warm bottom end, crisp upper midrange and a sweetly rolled off top end. The Lambertones Cremas capture this tonal palette with exquisite nuance.

Starting on the neck pickup, the guitar is full-bodied but with a clarity through the mids that you won’t find in traditional humbuckers. Not bright, not dull. Simply full and present. If you want to play off that mellow, stringy character of the neck position but also want to create a firmer bottom, just roll back the Bass Cut roller. This is a very handy tool for controlling exactly where your guitar sits in the mix, altering the breadth of the bottom end without changing the character of the mids and highs.

The middle position has beautiful clarity and leans right into the single-coil nature that the Cremas deliver in the upper register. The acoustic quality of the instrument really shines here. The pick attack is immediate and the sparkle is present but balanced. The clarity of the guitar in this position is absolutely stunning, but the bottom end stays deep and full the entire time.

The bridge pickup seizes the more compressed midrange character of a humbucker, but adds nice extension on either side as well. It is crisp and punchy for rhythm tones, both clean and dirty. Rolling back the “Cello” Tone roller gives a cocked-wah tone of sorts that we especially like in this position. It sounds incredible with overdriven lead tones, adding some color and pulling out a bit of top end to make those single notes sing larger than life.

Shelton has also equipped the guitar with a coil split wired to the “rhythm” slider switch! The Cremas take on a bit of an underwound Strat character in this configuration, very clear with a controlled low end. From twangy on the bridge, to spanky in the middle, to open and natural on the neck, you’ll find a whole alternate set of tones to bring to the gig.

How Does It Play?

We have this beauty set up right at 4/64” on the low E string at the 12th fret and even a bit under 4/64” on the high E. Very low without any fretbuzz. We love the feel of the 60’s Medium Oval neck profile (think a 60’s C with a little extra removed off the back). And the tempered maple assures that your seasonal neck adjustments will be kept to a minimum.
