The Alt de Facto series is Fano’s top-of-the-line custom series. These are handbuilt in the USA by one luthier from start to finish so that every instrument tells a unique and cohesive story. What Do We Think?

This RB6 emotes a decidedly vintage tone and feel, but in a guitar that is built painstakingly free of vintage quirks and wear. The pair of Lollar Staple P-90s really cash in on the woody tones of the mahogany body. The neck offers a sweet and soulful midrange that holds onto bluesy lead lines. Chord melodies have the perfect balance of thump on the bass notes and chime in the harmonic reaches of the chord.

The middle position shines on intervals, offering something that’s vast and piano-like with a touch of scoop in the midrange. The bridge position Staple P-90 is as unique as it is dynamic. It has a lower frequency peak and mellower disposition than your typical bridge P-90. Yet it still rewards you with a distinct chirp and rich sustain when digging in. On that note, the Bigsby B5 and mahogany body are an excellent pairing that ensures this guitar contains the balance of shimmer and depth in all pickup positions.

How Does It Play?

The neck pays homage to a ’59 round C, but with more manageable proportions. It starts off moderately near the nut and increases nicely as you work your way up the fretboard. The neck sets up fast and low. The string action hovers right around 4/64” at the 12^th fret. The German Carve top is a really nice touch, improving the comfort of the picking arm coming over the body. This instrument is a superb player, from tone to fit to finish.
