Each Fano Oltre series guitar is handbuilt in the USA using an old-growth North American Alder body, maple neck and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The result is a resonant, lively instrument crafted with care and precision. This series allows for a number of customizations, from color to pickguard, knobs to pickups. Models can be built with either a maple or rosewood fretboard to meet the needs of a variety of players. What Does Josh Think?

This guitar is a perfect combination of meaty P-90s and snappy maple fretboard. The Fano P-90 in the neck position lends a slight emphasis to your A and D strings, but with perfect articulation in the upper strings as well. As such, the tone is warm and fat but has a nice chirp up on top.

The bridge pickup shifts the midrange emphasis up a little higher, really driving home the G and B string range in particular. This is just the right register to make your rhythm parts cut through and give some edge to your lead work. It has a natural roll-off before it gets bright, so this position is powerful and ready to rock.

The middle position is exceptionally tight and only barely compressed, much like the response you get out of an acoustic instrument. It’s loads of fun to play for clean chord work or anywhere you want beautiful note separation.

How Does It Play?

The PX6 neck profile feels round and full. But comfortable, not a baseball bat. The finish is sanded off the back to give it a worn-in touch that never gets sticky. The string action straddles 4/64” at the 12^th fret. The fretwork is impeccable, and there is no fret buzz.
