Formerly known as the Stratospheric, the Alfa model is Paoletti's S-Style guitar featuring 130-150 year old chestnut body and superb custom hardware appointments. It is available in SSS, HSS and HH configurations and in both the solid body "Loft" and thinline "Lounge" variations.

What Do We Think?

Crafted from Paoletti’s signature aged chestnut wood, this Alfa Loft HSS features the unmistakable Deep Blue show-through finish with heavy relic, revealing incredibly thin layers of nitro in sunburst and stunning shades of blue. Aged like the fine wine barrels it was crafted from, the Paoletti Alfa feels like an old friend right off the bat.

From the get go, The Alfa serves up familiar S-type tones with an extra dose of fidelity when moving around the neck and middle position single coil pickups. Then, when moving to the bridge position humbucker, you get a nice full sound without loosing any of the top end clarity. The Paoletti Rock II Bridge humbucker almost has a single coil quality in the top end along with all the added fullness associated with humbucking pickups. This lets the guitar have a seamless and concise tone across every pickup position.

Made from Canadian Roasted Maple topped with an Ebony fretboard, the neck offers a smooth-as-Canadian maple syrup feel and a rich, dynamically bright sound. We noticed right away how lively and snappy this guitar is unplugged, and all of that fidelity is represented when plugged into your favorite amp. Pearloid dot inlays round out the guitar with a classy presentation.

How Does It Play?

The neck is a full C shape, not too thin and not too thick. It fits in your hand like just your dad’s old baseball glove. The string action is low without fret buzz, hovering right around 4/64” across all strings at the 12^th fret.

Paoletti wires their S-styles in the traditional configuration of neck & middle pickups on independent tone knobs, with the bridge pickup going straight to volume pot for maximum punch and clarity. If you prefer to have the bridge pickup wired up on the second tone knob, just inquire about having us do it for you!
