Just arrived from the good folks at Novo! Introducing this brand new Custom Serus J with Lollar Gold Foils in Faded Sparkling Burgundy. Any Novo with the Mastery bridge is a winner in my book. Add to that a set of Lollar Gold Foils; it’s a match made in tone heaven!

I took it for a spin through a Victoria Vicky Verb combo, which is definitely ‘Fender inspired’. All pickup positions are lively and full of flavor. From chimey highs and subtle thump in the neck position, to articulate shimmer and rich harmonics in the bridge, the Lollar Gold Foils are a force of tone to be reckoned with. And you’ll have endless hours of expression with the buttery smooth bar action of the Mastery Bridge.

How Does It Play?

The medium C neck is subtly sanded for a completely non-stick but natural feel down the back of the neck. The fretboard edges are nicely, though not aggressively, rounded. The string action measures just a hair over 4/64” on the low E string at the 12th fret and right at 4/64” on the high E string. There is no fretbuzz and no dead spots anywhere on the neck. My playing felt intentional and fluid.
