Our Lion Deluxe model is all about options and big, heavy tone. Select a mahogany body with a pair of Lollar P-90s, an alder body equipped with a pair of Lollar humbuckers, or a blend of the two pickup options—the choice is yours. The Lion Deluxe comes complete with a nice tummy cut for comfort and separate volume and tone controls for each pickup for the ultimate tonal control.

What Does Cam Think?

Hidden beneath the unassuming ‘T-Deluxe style’ exterior, lies a beast; a force of tone to be reckoned with, and not to be taken lightly. This Lion Special shares as much tonally with a LP, as it does aesthetically with a T Deluxe. The combination of mahogany neck and body, ebony fretboard, chunky-C neck profile, and Lollar Imperial pickups is a recipe that yields KILLER sonic results.  

We know and love the Lollar Imperials. They are humbuckers that work in just about any situation or genre that needs great sounding ‘PAF’s’. Clean, the neck pickup is articulate and meaty, with clarity that is nicely balanced by body. The bridge pickup isn’t honky or bright, it’s just right. With a little gain, the string-to-string definition remains clear, allowing every note to be heard. The bridge pickup pushed the Bogner Shiva we have in the shop very nicely. Man I tell you, Imperials in a mahogany body, it is a very nice combination! The pickups are so versatile; from jazz to hard-rock, they do it all.

How Does It Play?

The neck profile is a chunky C, which is my favorite carve from Shabat. It feels like a great LP neck, but just a tad speedier. Maybe it’s the more rounded profile. Frets are Jescar 55090’s in stainless steel. They are oh so buttery smooth for effortless playability. Action sits at 4/64” across all strings, measured at the 12^th fret.
