What Does Cam Think?

The ESP USA shop has been building stunning instruments lately. This latest Horizon II in Sapphire Black Metallic is absolutely striking. This is a metal machine through-and-through with rock solid playability and sonics. Features include a mahogany body, maple top, an ebony fretboard, and neck-thru body construction.

Pickups are a set of Seymour Duncan Custom 14’s, which is an exclusive pickup made only available on ESP guitars. If you are looking for a change from the typical active set, this is a killer passive pickup that excels at lower tunings. It sounds great in standard tuning, but remains articulate and tight when the lows need to be low.

How Does It Play?

The string action sits at 4/64” across all strings, measured at the 12^th fret. There is room to go if you want to go even lower. The Jescar XJ frets are beautifully dressed for effortless playability. The Thin U neck shape is my favorite carve from ESP. It’s medium in thickness, providing excellent support, but still speedy for shredding.
