In via trade. While we have gotten a few very nice Gibson pieces in trade lately, this Les Paul Special Double Cut stands out. It is a 2003 model that was refinished and destressed by Bluesman Vintage Guitars in Spring Hill, TN. Having previously worked at the Gibson Custom shop, I am quite impressed with the refinish/ relic work. It looks phenomenal and feels great!
Featuring a mahogany body and neck, rosewood fretboard, and two P-90 pickups, it’s amazing the tones available at your disposal. I was really pleased with the pickups on this one. The neck pickup is chimey with body, and the bridge is bright with a pleasant midrange, but not strident. I can see this being an all-star in a studio setting!
How Does It Play?
The truss rod functions properly and the guitar sets up nicely. The string action sits a little above 4/64” on the low E string and right at 4/64” on the high E string, measured at 12th fret.
