Every so often, we get the opportunity of taking a guitar from the Fender Custom Shop in on trade. It’s always fresh and exciting because they differ on specs, and you never know what you’ll end up with. In this case, it’s a 2025 Fender Custom Shop Empire '67 Roasted Relic Strat, finished in a heavy relic Black finish. This beast features a 9.5”-12” compound radius, rosewood fretboard, and 6105 fretwire. This model was originally spe’ced by Empire Music and features a blender knob in place of the 2nd tone knob. This allows you to blend the neck or bridge pickup into any position!
Other features include a roasted ash body, ‘60s Style Oval C neck shape, 6-screw bridge, and hand-wound Empire ‘67 pickups. The neck profile measures .790” at the first fret and .930” at the 12th fret. Also comes with the original case, spec sheet, certificate, and all the case candy.
How Does It Play?
The truss rod functions properly and the guitar sets up nicely. The string action sits at just above 4/64” on the low E string, and right at 4/64” on the high E string, measured at the 12th fret.
