The Hofner 500/1 violin bass was designed by Walter Hofner and launched at the Frankfurt Music Messe in 1956. It has since gone on to become one of the most recognizable electric bass guitars in the music world in terms of both looks and sound.
The “Mersey” 1962 reissue features flame maple back and sides and matching flame maple neck. The neck profile is the slightly “fuller” of the 500/1 offerings and sports a clean rosewood fretboard without side dot markers. The 1962 reissue ships complete with Hofner vintage strap and optional strap button for the neck heel.
