The Kauer Banshee Deluxe retains the same neck thru construction that makes the Banshee so unique, but adds a maple top for a distinct sonic flavor. Measuring ¼” thick in the middle and 1/8” on the wings, it imparts a bite and tightness not heard in the standard Banshee and pairs especially well with humbucking pickups. Nonetheless, the body maintains the thin dimensions, comfortable contours and lively response of its namesake. What Do We Think?

This guitar is spec’d with an aged “Keith Burst” finish and a single Wolfetone KauerBucker pickup. But don’t the classic looks or the simplicity fool you. Yes, the KauerBucker has all the bite and energy you want out of a good single-pickup guitar. The maple cap over mahogany body keeps the tone punchy and focused under heavy gain.

The two switches on the pickguard are a coil split and “cocked wah”. The former gives you access to surprisingly-juicy single coil tones. The magic of the single-pickup design is really on full display here. Without the stifling magnetic pull of the neck pickup on the strings, you get more resonance and a bigger tone than you would out of the bridge position on a two-pickup guitar.

And lastly, the cocked wah switch. It adds a bit of deep vowel to the output, like the sweet spot of a wah pedal. Not too drastic but just enough to add some growling classic rock tones to the palette. It serves equally well on rhythm and lead tones alike. Between the switches and use of your volume and tone knobs, this guitar will easily take you through an entire gig without skipping a beat.

It will also go easy on your shoulder at just 6lb 5oz!

How Does It Play?

Incredible. Doug PLEKs the necks on his guitars and the results are undeniable. Of course, the entire guitar displays expert craftsmanship that all comes together the moment you pick it up. The string action measures just 4/64” on the low E string at the 12^th fret and even lower on the high E, without buzz. The medium C neck profile is classic but comfortable.
