The Saticoy series of guitars are handmade S-style instruments crafted in Santa Clarita California. The Era series features a 4 stage “Flash Coat” ultra-thin nitro finish, allowing the guitar to resonate and breath and look good while doing so!
Colors include Trans Butterscotch, Vintage Cream, Faded Shell Pink and Faded Sonic Blue, all finished over a northeastern white pine or alder body. Seymour Duncan stacked noiseless pickups are standard, with the in-house hand-wound LsL pickups as an optional upgrade. Take one for a spin, you’ll be glad you did!
What Does Cam Think?
We’ve really been enjoying the Era Series instruments from LsL. They represent an incredible value for a boutique brand with the quality and detail you’d expect from a USA built instrument. Featuring roasted lightweight woods and custom wound pickups, you’d be hard pressed to find a better instrument at this price!
This Saticoy comes equipped with LsL hand wound pickups. Starting with the single coils, they are a blend of a ‘50s and ‘60s tonality. The neck single has all the glass you want, but enough kick to sound juicy. It still has body but will cut through when you need it to. The middle single has enough clarity and mids to poke through and add some spank to positions 2 and 4.
The bridge pickup has the bark and sustain of a PAF style humbucker, but it plays nice with the singles regarding balance. Some bridge humbuckers take over when engaged in this HSS config, but this bridge pickup is wonderfully balanced. It also plays nice when in the ‘2’ position, which can also be a weakness of a bridge HB. I can still get the quack I’m after, which is a pleasant surprise!
The Era series Saticoy isn’t just about value for your money. It can hang with guitars twice the price. It really is a phenomenal instrument in its own right!
How Does It Play?
The action measures just 4/64” across all strings at the 12th fret. The medium C neck profile is ultra-comfortable and supportive. It fills out around the 9th fret for easy leads and bending. The satin feel is super smooth and a joy to play.
