The T-Bone models from LsL are handmade T-style instruments crafted in Santa Clarita California. The Era series features a 4 stage “Flash Coat” ultra-thin nitro finish, allowing the guitar to resonate, breathe, and look good while doing so!
Colors include Trans Butterscotch, Vintage Cream, Faded Shell Pink and Faded Sonic Blue, all finished over a northeastern white pine or alder body. Seymour Duncan stacked noiseless pickups are standard, with the in-house hand-wound LsL pickups as an optional upgrade. Take one for a spin, you’ll be glad you did!
What Does Cam Think?
This LsL Era Series T Bone might be the best deal out there on a vintage ‘T’ style. While it is becoming increasingly difficult to keep costs down on instruments, LsL has figured out how to do so while not cutting corners. This is a USA handmade guitar with all the quality and attention to detail you’d expect. The feel is there, the sound is there, the look is there, and the value is there… what else can you ask for?
The Noiseless Seymour Duncan pickups are a perfect pair for this guitar. I always start with the bridge position to see if it sounds like a ‘T’ style, and yes, my suspicions were confirmed. It has the bark, high-end, and authority I expect to hear in such an instrument. Moving your picking hand closer to the bridge accentuates clarity, but without any brittleness in the treble.
The neck pickup is smooth and full. Clean lines sound glassy and clear, but with body. Complex jazz-style chords retain note definition but with a thick and rich low-midrange. Both pickups together have that funky scooped tone we all know and love. That position also sounds great for clean arpeggios and even an alternate lead tone!
It's incredible the amount of sounds a ‘T’ Style can produce, being such a simple and classic design. It really shows how the sum of the parts is the most important aspect in guitar making. With quality roasted alder and maple, rock-solid hardware, and Duncan pickups, This T Bone is a killer instrument!
How Does It Play?
The action sits right at 4/64” on the low E string and just under 4/64” on the high E string, measured at the 12th fret. The neck is silky smooth with great fretwork and a comfortable carve. The neck finishing is very subtle, leaving an oiled feel that’s satin in texture. This neck is head and shoulders above the rest!
