What Do We Think?

Just arrived! This Novo Serus T Limited Edition in Fiesta Red over '64 3-Tone Burst makes quite the statement. It’s a ‘T-Style’ tone machine within the stylish and super comfortable Serus platform. The tempered pine body and maple neck are joined together with Novo’s rock-solid bolt-on neck joint. This combination packs a tonal punch, and you’ll be knocked out by the sonics that are waiting within.

The Lindy Fralin pickup set in this guitar is very well balanced, and uses a high output tele bridge pickup alongside a custom made-for-Novo P-45 in the neck. The bridge sounds are very articulate and snappy, having a strong upper midrange that handles overdrive really nicely. This position has a refined yet full low-end attack that gives some percussiveness to quick chicken pickin’ lines or twangy riffs.

Moving to the P-45 neck pickup, you'll be pleasantly surprised with how clear and well-EQ’d this position is. There is no overbearing low end, and it is equally matched in output to the bridge pickup. It's amazing how well it strikes the balance between articulation and warmth. It handles gain very well, and has a natural compression and sustain that is really fun to experience.

The 4-position selector switch gives you a nice addition to the standard three position switch. Position 2 has a subtle "cluck" with both pickups in parallel and sounds fantastic for funky, clean rhythm parts. Position 4 puts both pickups in series for a natural solo boost or to beef up a clean fingerpicked line that needs to take up more space in the mix.

How Does It Play?

This guitar has a classic medium C neck topped with a 9.5-14” compound radius fretboard. The frets are Jescar 47095, which is the perfect size for comfortable chording and easy bending. The string action hovers around 4/64” at the 12^th fret without any buzz. This guitar feels broken in and ready for a lifetime of music.
