A Dennis Fano Signature series Miris J for the ages. Serial # DF0101. We won the lotto on this one (literally, it’s a pick of the draw situation to get these Signature models). Couldn’t be happier to have had this one come into our hands.

The rounded body edges are a super nice touch on the Miris J platform. It plays with all the comfort of the solid body Serus J model while packing a little more volume and body behind each note. The flamed maple neck and headstock look fantastic.

The Lollar DC-90s have a wonderful bounce to them. They don’t feel like a noiseless pickup, but the hum-cancelling quality sure comes in handy because you’re going to want to put your amp through its paces once you plug this one in. The articulation is extraordinary, but note attack is nice and round at the same time. The neck position is bold and warm. The bridge has more bite and takes to gain like a good PAF. The middle position is tight and snappy right down through the low strings.

How Does It Play?

Not surprisingly, they don’t get any better than this. The fretboard binding is nicely rolled and leads perfectly into the medium C neck. It’s a well-rounded C, neither slim nor fat. The 11-50 string gauge feels surprisingly slinky on the 24.75" scale. The string action measures barely a hair over 4/64” on the low E string at the 12^th fret and right at 4/64” on the high E. You can dig in anywhere on the neck without fretbuzz.
