G50 is the new high gain hotrod for discerning rock and metal guitarists. Packing a greatest hits of Revv tones, off-menu options, and artist requests, G50 is a compact 50 watt EL34 powerhouse centered around REVV's Purple channel: the iconic sound of modern rock and metal.

With REVV's new standard Two-notes Torpedo-embedded direct XLR out reactive load and DynIRs, you can play, record, and perform anywhere without a cabinet, while a powerful array of switching options, a buffered effects loop, integrated noise gate and reverb, and more give you complete control of your rig.

What Do We Think?

Everything Revv says about the purple channel ripping is absolutely true. With three selectable levels of aggression to contour the tightness and razor’s edge of the note, and loads of gain organically on tap, it goes everywhere from liquid-y to crisp and crushing. The built-in noise gate comes in real handy, and the bright/cut/fat buttons give you even further control over your tone.

But we at Guitars To Be Played have been really relishing in the lower gain tones of the Green channel. It has British crunch written all over it. It can actually get quite heavy itself, but it does a great job keeping the midrange dynamic and transparent. Rolling the mid EQ knob back predictably gives you a more modern scoop, while pushing it north of noon dials in a good bite.

The clean channel is no slouch either. In its default voicing it has classic Bassman leanings. Nice and balanced. The Wide widens the footprint to be impressively expansive, and the bright switch really makes the top end sparkle. Dialing the level north of noon adds a touch of warm compression to fatten and sweeten every note.

The reverb can be assigned or bypassed per channel and is saved to memory for recall next time you switch to that channel. Two Master volume controls allow you to set your headroom at two different positions. You can have a volume kick dialed up for solos, bring a sparkling clean part to the forefront, or otherwise manipulate the volume of the amp at just the touch of a footswitch.
