What Do We Think?

This isn’t your Grandpa’s Tele! This is a hard-hitting rock machine. The bottom end is big but focused. The midrange packs a serious punch and the trebles shine with unsoiled clarity. With the wraparound tailpiece, your note attack is powerful and immediate. It’s also a loud guitar! Everything about this instrument resonates.

The bridge pickup has some serious riffing power with an immense low midrange growl. But there are vibrant overtones present as well that extend perfect clarity to the fundamentals being played down in the lower register. The neck position is warm but to the point. No flub or mud. And the middle position has a beautiful shimmer with a bit of scooped midrange, absolutely perfect for clean or “edge of breakup” strumming.

The slab of rosewood used on the fretboard is particularly beautiful on this guitar. It doesn’t hurt that it’s dressed up with block inlays and binding either. By the way, we love the way the rounded binding edges feel on Shabat necks. There is no detail spared in Avi’s attention to detail. In similar fashion, the nut slots are cut smoothly to allow the string to return to “zero” after every string bend, and the graphite string tree is an excellent touch as well.

How Does It Play?

The neck is a healthy medium C. We measure .855” at the first fret and .975” at the 12^th along with generous shoulder. The back of the neck is sanded down for a perfectly smooth playing experience. The string action measures 4/64” on the low E string at the 12^th and a touch lower on the high E, all without buzz.
