With an array of T-style pickups from Lollar to choose from and a feather-light body (ash, alder or pine) fitted with either a Gotoh three-saddle or modern six-saddle bridge, the Lion Standard offers incredible punch, sustain and resonance.

What Does Cam Think?

This Lion may be the ultimate T style guitar. It has all the DNA: 1 piece swamp ash body, maple neck, and killer Lollar pickups. The neck itself is a sight to behold. The flame is tight and really pops with the vintage tint. The medium aged black nitro finish goes with everything in your wardrobe. Did I mention this guitar is light? 6lbs, 7.8oz light! Other appointments include aged gold hardware, a Gotoh vintage-style ashtray bridge, and Dunlop 6105 frets.

Talk about a T style on steroids! This Lion features a set of Lollar pickups, specifically, the J-Street single coil in the bridge and an Imperial Low Wind Humbucker in the neck. Don’t worry about volume, the J-Street keeps up wonderfully with the neck Imperial Low Wind. And this guitar being 1 solid piece of swamp ash, you get all the resonance and girth you need. Something that surprised me when playing this Lion… the Gotoh bridge adds a bit of and air to the tone even unplugged. Dare I say, this may be my favorite Shabat, and I’m not a traditional T style guy. It just has that mojo in spades.

How Does It Play?

The neck is a slim ‘60s profile, measuring about 0.79” at the first fret and 0.92” at the 12th. You’ll notice the fret ends are beautifully rounded with zero sharp edges. The string action measures only 4/64” at the 12th fret on the low E, and even lower on the high E. While not being thin, this is the fastest nick Shabat makes.
